Today

It was 'little' Spencer's 9th birthday yesterday and today Marigold and I went for a gelato with him. We picked him up after school and headed out. Although it rained on and off yesterday, today was a clear, dry, sparkling September day. Perfect. Just like the day he was born, which I remember as though it were yesterday.

Before we went to the gelato shop, we stopped off at Marigold's new condo construction site to see how things are going. They're framing her floor right now and this is what it looks like. Hers is the first peaked window on the top floor, to the left of the corner unit. Her unit faces west and catches the afternoon sun. Diagonally behind me is the entrance to the Lion's Gate hospital. The North Shore mountains are in the background.

Below is a close-up. The window with the three sections will be her living room.

Below is a shot from right outside. What looks like a window set back to the left of the living room will a balcony outside the master bedroom.

Spencer seemed quite happy to be with us today although he doesn't say so. He wiggles away from hand-holding - too big for that I guess - but he's quite happy to have a hug. We ate gelato, opened presents and played Pick-up stix before it was time to go home. This pic is Spencer eating his gelato ... 'Oreo cookie' flavour.

Below is Marigold with 'kiwi' flavour. Sort of matches the decor, don't you think?

Someone has an annoying aunt taking a picture in mid-mouthful.
Sorry, no pics of the photographer!
