The Back Lane Gallery in pictures

I got there just after six o'clock tonight and there were already a few people there. Keith was standing to the side and watching everyone arrive. Aside from looking pale, he seemed to be pleased to be there. His sculptures have been bronzed and they looked very nice. It does make a difference compared to what they look like in the original clay, although I can't say exactly what it is. I will include some pictures next time. There were too many people walking in front of them tonight.

This shot on the left is before the gallery was finished but it shows the semi-loft where some of Keith's busts are being stored. You can jsut barely sit up there, at the highest point. The object with the crank is Nori's printing press which weighs a ton and is almost a sculpture in itself. The pocket door in the back right corner leads into the bathroom/storage room, where the chairs will be stored. Behind the end wall are the garage doors and the lane (no windows). I'm standing just inside the main door to take the picture. The window to the garden is to my right, just out of view.

Here's the window while the room was being painted and then how it looked tonight. As of this morning it has curtains. I'm still standing in the doorway which opens onto the drive beside the gallery (garage). That's Nori's eldest daughter on the right. She made all the refreshments and is standing over them being the hostess.

Behzad and Nori are in front of three of four of Nori's abstract drawings, which are on the wall facing the door. There were a lot of complements for Behzad tonight.

The next picture is of Axel standing in front of the back corner (the garage door wall). The bathroom is to the right of him. I don't think he liked my flash! One of Keith's sculptures is behind him.

The picture to the left isn't the best picture but it shows you one of the ceiling fans and the rest of the wall where Nori and Behzad were standing. To the left you can just see the bathroom door frame. In the top right of the photo, you can glimpse one of the four skylights.

In the picture to the right is the outside door. The chimney is ready for the wood stove, if it's put back in. And the window is on the left. You've now seen all four sides - piecemeal!

The rest is for another day when I've managed to get shots of the outside and the garden. It really did look wonderful tonight. As I was leaving, I stood outside in the garden and looked in through the window. The candles were lit on the window sill and the light spilled out into the dark. It's been a long time in the works. Now we're looking forward to using the space!
