I don't know what has been happening to my writing but I can't believe that it's the 27th already and I haven't written here all month. You'll all give up looking to see what's new! It's a lovely, gentle, sunny, summer day here today. I would have liked this yesterday as it was my mother's 75th birthday and we were celebrating on a somewhat cool, gray and even a little showery day. The vagaries of Mother Nature! Despite the weather though, we had a lovely day and that's all that matters.
My friend Ruth has just sent me an interesting autobiography by an American healer who lives in Montana. It's one of those books that I had to sit down and read right away. I'm closing in on half-way through and it's a comfort to know that there are other people who have similar experiences to mine. He and I are different in that he is a physical healer and I work with information, but some his experiences of himself are in my ball park, so-to-speak. His writing skills aren't brilliant but they warm up a little as you read further into the book, and they don't get in the way of the stories he tells. Thank you, Ruth!
So here's my observation for today... I notice the world heating up with fear again. The press are going to town with reports from every expert under the sun, saying that we are doomed if we keep going the way we have been. Listening to the news, which I don't often do, gives me indigestion. For my part, I am staying away from the doom-sayers, however well-intentioned they may be, and keeping my thoughts away from fear. It's lethal to my health!
Instead, I have to keep doing whatever I am able, to improve the quality of my life, on every level, including the spiritual/energy levels. This book I'm reading reminds me that we create everything in thought first, however unaware we may be of it, and I am trying to focus on that.
I watched a program on TV last night about what the city of Chicago has been doing to make the city 'green'. the mayor picked a visible place to start by planting out and thus 'greening' the roof of City Hall. The TV program conceded that at times he has been a benevolent dictator, and a little heavy-handed at that, but that sometimes that's what it takes to get the ball rolling. I believe that fear produces a kind of inertia where we are afraid to do the wrong thing and end up shooting down all the fledgling ideas that could move us at all, or we go off half-cocked and do crazy things that make everyone angry and uncooperative. As I am known to say with my clients, once you've set your intention, all roads lead to Rome. You just have to calmly pick one and then steadily and thoughtfully proceed. After that, you can adjust your course.
I applaud my friend Janet up in Whitehorse for her organic garden with it's new greenhouse. She's taking at least some of her food supply into her own hands and has transformed her back garden, way up where gardening has its own unique challenges, into Bountiful. I'd love to be around for the harvest meals! She's also just done some great research on the internet and found out about which of the veggies, grown with pesticides, is the least awful for us to eat. Check it out!
So that's my good news for today. Hope you're all having a wonderful Friday. It's a long weekend here as it's Canada Day on Tuesday. And it's July 4th for the Americans next Friday. Have fun, Davy and Ruth. Perhaps celebrating in Scotland is even better than being 'State-side'.
And my reminder to myself and all of you... Keep your heart open, your body grounded and ... STAY OUT OF THE FEAR.
